After a 5 hour drive we arrived in Bella Italia, ckecked- in, went for a walk and enjoyed a delicious dinner.
After a night with not that much sleep i woke up with a bad headache and our first training session started at 10.30 am. I was extremely nervous and put myself under pressure. I was literally my own enemy.
It was a very special feeling to finally hop into this really warm (32-34 degrees) thermal water. Thoughts were running circles in my head... "it is so hot in here!" "I thought that pool is bigger..." "It is too hot in here!!!" "Why are so many divers in this pool at the same time?" "it's so noisy"
I wasn't relaxed at all and I needed this first session (90mins.) to check out the different platforms/ depths and to calm down a bit.
We had our second training session in the afternoon and i felt so much better than in the morning. But there were still so many divers (at least 25-30 in the deep dive area) who wanted to do deep dives.
If u wanna dive into the deepest pool wich ist 42 m you need a Lanyard. There are "only" 3 ropes and they were always occupied.
We had only one chance for a deep dive (and we had to "fight" for it) during this session and I was bit disappointed because I've made it only to 20 m.
But it was so much fun to dive to 15 m, lay down on the edge, watch other divers and try to stay as long as possible and finally return relaxed back to the surface.
I realised this kind of training is more important and helpful for what I wanna reach in freediving. I throw overboard my goals to reach at least 30 m. As I don't wanna go to deep dive competitions there's no reason to train for it. I want to be able to stay under water for as long as possible, I wanna observe wildlife in the ocean. And most important - be relaxed while im diving. No more nervousness and pressure. If I'll make it to 30 m (or more) one day that would be great but it's not my main goal anymore.
On Sunday morning (9 am) we had our last training.
There were less divers than on Saturday and it was a relaxed athmosphere. No "fights" the get on the rope.
We had the chance to do some good deep dives and it was interesting to watch other divers (a group of Russians - I think they are pro's) preparing for their dives.
I made my final dive to almost 25 m which is my new PB. And I'm happy with that!
It was a great weekend with my freedive buddies :-)
A huge thank you to everyone, especially www.scubalino.ch for organising this trip.
