Fiji – the most vibrant underwarter world I’ve ever seen.

BULA!

After some very intense days being in the water with humpback whales in Tonga we arrived on Fiji mainland. The next day we took the ferry to Manta Ray Island where our little resort was located at the beach. We had the most beautiful beachfront villas. The housereef was absolutely stunning! I’ve been to many different dive sites before but Fiji offers a diversity of marine life I’ve never seen before. So many different corals in different shapes and colors as well as fish and other species. I thought I was diving and swimming through a photoshoped scenery.

We spent 4 days in the water – headed out with a small boat and our private guide Atu.

He showed us many different locations, such as a wreck, swim/dive throughs, the manta channel where we freedived with beautiful black mantas. Almost everyday we saw reefsharks, some of them were very curious and fun to dive with. Our last diving day was filled with great encounters. So many reefsharks, turtles, eagle rays and on top a baitball. It was very impressive to finally see a baitball and even better, to dive through it. Wow!!

We ended out stay on Manta Ray Island with a sunrise hike which was exhausting but fantastic and a « jewellery making » lesson with our guide Atu. He patiently showed everyone hot to knot the beautiful bracelets and necklaces.

Before we boarded the ferry back to the main Island I enjoyed a very relaxing massage. What a beautiful finish of a nice week in Fiji.

Thank you Fiji for treating us so well – I’ll definitely be back.
