After a short safety briefing we started our tour. We had a nice morning snorkel, lots of fishes and a beautiful coral reef. A bit later our spotter plane found some mantas and we had the pleasure to swim with them. What an amazing feeling to see those big and gentle creatures swimming under you. Like flying carpets. Wow!!
We had two close encounters with them and it was so beautiful but we were not allowed to dive down. No freediving at all.
In the afternoon we went to another reef which is known as cleaning station for some fishes and sharks. Reef sharks. Another magical moment – when a 1.5m long reef shark cruises directly under you. Beautiful and “harmless” sharks.
After a snorkel around the reef we swam back to our pick up point. A few minutes before the boat came to pick us up there was another shark 5m under us. They first thought it is a tiger shark. But then our photographer went down to take a picture and came up with the words: “it’s a bull!”
And our main guide’s reaction was like: “ok folks, everyone please come close together. Come closer! Just stay close together the boat will pick us up in a minute”.
This (at least 2m) shark swam under us, no need for panic. He wasn’t interested in us at all. I just enjoyed the moment and felt lucky to be there in that moment. Not everyone gets to see a bull shark. Ok, not everyone wants to see a bull shark….because it can be quite dangerous.
But nothing happened. The shark swam away and our boat came to pick us up.
Another fantastic day out in the ocean.
