50KM Night Hike 2024

* YES - I DID IT *

One month ago I took part in the 50km night hike at rockandhike.

Never did a 50K or a night hike before so this was totally new to me.

started fully motivated at 10pm despite the bad weather forecast. After about 16KM we reached the first checkpoint with refreshments, then continued through the night. After 22KM it went steeply uphill and right there heavy rain started. For the next 20 minutes I fought against my thoughts ... and I said to myself that I would quit the hike if it didn't stop raining soon.

Then came the next checkpoint. I warmed up again with soup and took off my wet rain jacket for a few minutes. Another steep climb in the pouring rain for a few minutes and we were at the top. What a relief! Now I could finally push the negative thoughts away. Now I knew I was going to make it.

Completely soaked and it was still raining but not as hard.

Let's go, I have to keep going so as not to lose too much time.

Finally it stopped raining, the day began to end in daylight and we reached the last checkpoint at KM 36. only a short stop to eat some fruit and get ready for the last 14KM.

Keep going!

It started raining again, I didn't put on my rain jackets because it didn't make any difference.

And then the finish was in sight & reach. The feet hurt so much. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 13!

I made it!

Tired, happy, exhausted and really proud that I kept going even when it was really hard to put one foot in front of the other💪🏻 what an experience!
